Welcome to 33rd NSCMID Annual Meeting in Rovaniemi 2016

Dear colleagues, my friends,

It is my utmost pleasure to warmly welcome you to the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Nordic Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, in Rovaniemi, Finland, September 15–18, 2016. The congress venue is Lappia Hall, theatre and congress house located in the city centre (Hallituskatu 11).

Rovaniemi, long known as the official hometown of Santa Claus, is situated at the Arctic Circle, 845 kilometres away from Helsinki. Embraced by two great rivers, Ounasjoki and Kemijoki, Rovaniemi is a gateway to Lapland, its natural capital and beating heart. The city is served by an international airport, yet within just ten kilometres of the centre you will find undisturbed wilderness. Here people and culture live in harmony with nature.

With first-class scientific contributions from invited speakers and poster presenters, we shall deliver an inspiring programme which will cover a great variety of exciting topics highly relevant to clinical microbiologists and infectious disease clinicians alike.

Our small and intimate meeting will offer you plenty of opportunities to interact with colleagues during scientific sessions, poster presentations, exhibitions, and social events. The three September days will be dedicated not only to learning and scientific inspiration, but also to getting together with old friends and making new ones, establishing collaborations, and enjoying both the meeting and Lappish environment!

On behalf of the organizing committee, I wish you most welcome and hope that you will have an unforgettable stay in Rovaniemi.

Warm regards,

Anu Kantele
Congress President
